For the 88 millionth time, it was “Gute Fahrt!” at the Warnowtunnel today. A very special moment occurred punctually at 2 p.m. on a rainy Monday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Huenger from Rostock became the 88 millionth users of the tunnel. As they entered the toll station, they were invited by a representative of Warnowquerung GmbH & Co. KG invited them to stop for a short gift presentation.
On the way from their home in Lütten Klein to Bentwisch to go shopping, Karin and Detelf Huenger were in for a pleasant surprise. They could hardly believe what they had just heard. The television crews from MV1 and Regio TV caused Mr. and Mrs. Huenger a brief moment of uncertainty, which very quickly gave way to pure euphoria. They had been using the tunnel regularly since it opened and were really big fans. The tunnel is a huge relief for them and saves a lot of time, said Mr. Huenger. The Managing Director of Warnowquerung GmbH & Co. KG, Ms. Yvonne Osterkamp, thanked the Huenger family with a large bouquet of flowers containing a small otter stuffed animal, a gift basket, an 88-euro fuel voucher, a Warnowtunnel sunshade for the windscreen of their car and a few other little things.
The couple uses the tunnel with various media, coupled with the fast direct debit system. When they are traveling by car, the tunnel strip in their windscreen quickly opens the barrier for them. “When I’m on the road on my motorcycle, I use the Oscard,” reported Mr. Huenger.
We would like to thank Mr. and Mrs. Huenger for their many years of tunnel use and wish them and all tunnel drivers a safe and pleasant journey at all times.
