One, two… eighty-three million. It’s hard to count that far by hand. Fortunately, the technical helpers at the Warnowtunnel make our work a little easier. After all, in over twenty years of tunnel operation, today, Tuesday, such a large number of passages have been achieved.
Mr. and Mrs. Kröger had just been to the Rostock fishing port to get some “Easter fish”. They were on their way back to their home in Blankenhagen when they were lucky enough to be greeted by the Warnowtunnel as the 83 millionth tunnel drivers. To mark the occasion, Ms. Yvonne Osterkamp, Managing Director of Warnowquerung GmbH & Co. KG, presented Mr. and Mrs. Kröger with a beautiful large bouquet of flowers with a small otter plush toy, a fuel voucher worth €83.00, a premium car wash at the Globus car wash in Roggentin, the new 26th volume of “Rostocker Panoramen” by author Helmut Aude and some other great gifts.
Mr. and Mrs. Kröger regularly travel through the tunnel a few times a month using their Oscard. “It’s much quicker to go to the fishing port, for example, than to drive through the city,” says Mrs. Kröger.
In addition to the tunnel card, there is also the option of using an RFID strip, which makes the passage even easier and more convenient. The tiny module is stuck into the windshield and allows you to drive through the toll station without stopping.
We would like to thank Mr. and Mrs. Kröger for their consistent use of the tunnel and wish them and all tunnel users a safe journey and a happy Easter.
