In the still very young year 2025, a festive event was announced at the Warnowtunnel. Many users have been crossing under our home river since October, and one of them was lucky today. We were able to congratulate Mr. Kilian as he was the 87 millionth user of the Warnowtunnel since it opened.
While passing through the tunnel’s toll station, Mr. Kilian was unexpectedly approached about the situation. The tiler, who has been self-employed for 35 years, did not hesitate for long and made his way to the side of the road with his vehicle-trailer combination, where several people were already waiting. The managing director of Warnowquerung GmbH & Co. KG, Ms. Yvonne Osterkamp, congratulated him as soon as he got out. He received a beautiful, large bouquet of flowers with an otter stuffed animal, a battery-powered compressor, a gift bag with a fuel voucher worth €50, a ten-ticket for ice skating at the Rostock ice rink and a few other small gifts.
Commercial traffic accounts for a large proportion of tunnel use. We are all the more pleased that Mr. Kilian regularly takes the easy and uncomplicated route through the Warnow Tunnel for his work.
Today he was on his way back from an order at the MUR company and wanted to drive to his home address in Dummerstorf. He naturally decided to take the fastest route again – we think that was exactly the right decision. His vehicle is fitted with the “RFID strip”. Barely visible and stuck into the windshield, the inconspicuous module enables the driver to drive through the toll station without stopping. Particularly interesting for companies when they need to get to a customer quickly. But also a clever solution for everyone else!
We would like to thank Mr. Kilian for his regular use of the tunnel and wish him and all tunnel drivers a safe and pleasant journey at all times.
