From next Monday, 11 November 2024, long-term planned renovation work on the asphalt surface and tunnel drainage in the south tube of the Warnowtunnel will take place.
After 21 years of steadily increasing traffic volumes and the associated wear and tear caused by regular commercial and economic traffic, even well-protected and robust asphalt surfaces are beginning to age. Pavement renewals must therefore be carried out continuously as part of maintenance measures due to age and wear. They are an essential part of preventive maintenance. For this reason, the asphalt and also the tunnel drainage of the Warnowtunnel must be renovated. The latest requirements of technical regulations are being applied in this construction project. The first construction phase comprises the south tube of the tunnel. The work in the north tube is expected to take place in spring 2025.
The construction site will be set up on 11 November 2024 at around 08:00 and is expected to remain in place until just before Christmas. During the six weeks of construction work by STRABAG, traffic from both directions will be routed through the north tunnel at reduced speed.
The efficient route through the Warnowtunnel will remain available in both directions at all times during the planned construction work.
We wish all tunnel drivers a safe and pleasant journey!
