Last Saturday, the Warnow Tunnel briefly transformed into a unique sporting event.
After a break of three years, the 20th hella Rostock Marathon Night led through the tunnel again along its old familiar route. In addition to the full marathon with 42.195 kilometers, the half marathon also passed through here, which even opened directly at our toll station at 7:55 p.m. Other highlights on the route were the new starting point for the marathon on the Haedge peninsula, the beautiful Gehlsdorfer Ufer with a panoramic view of the Rostock city harbor, and running around the IGA Park grounds. In addition, the Rostock Marathon has a very special charm as one of the few marathons held in Germany with the starting signal in the early evening hours. A total of 1,400 participants took up the challenge.
The Warnow Tunnel was also represented by a marathon relay team. Captain Torsten Raths and his four teammates Siegmund Bruhn, Anke Grenzdörfer, Stefan Gamm and Dominik Putzke were able to place 12th out of a total of 17 registered teams.
We send best congratulations to our brave participants, many thanks to the organizer BMS Die Laufgesellschaft for the great organization as well as a successful anniversary and to the SV47 Rövershagen for the sportive support!
